The Association of American Medical Colleges has forecast a shortage of circa 120,000 physicians in the United States by 2030, exacerbating a crisis where up to 83 million US residents have insufficient access to a primary care physician.

Dr. Joseph Savino, a physician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, will deliver a presentation on the path to medical school. The presentation is aimed at Philadelphia-area students and their parents and teachers explaining the process of preparing for and applying to medical school. Common sentiment is attending medical school is “difficult” at best and “unattainable” at worst for many students. Dr. Savino’s presentation will explain why this is not the case, and what students and their families can do to attain medical school and make medicine a rewarding career.

High school and college-aged young people and their families are encouraged to attend at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
This is event will present healthcare career possibilities and guidance to young people in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities.
