Vaccines This Winter: Making Sense of the Science and Policy
Virtual Event

Please join the College's Section on Public Health and Preventive Medicine for this installment of its Health and Community Program Series (formerly Grand Rounds): "Vaccines This Winter: Making Sense of the Science and Policy."
Free Virtual Event
A Health and Community Program Series event, presented by the Section on Public Health and Preventive Medicine at The College of Physicians of Philadelphia.
Vaccine advice can be hard to follow, especially when health officials and medical groups offer different guidance. Which vaccines should children and adults get this winter? How do we know they are safe? And what does the measles outbreak in Pennsylvania mean for our families and communities?
Join The College of Physicians of Philadelphia for a free virtual panel discussion about vaccine science, recent policy debates, and the choices facing families this season. Our panel will explain what has changed, what the evidence shows, and how to find advice you can trust.
Together, we will explore:
-
Vaccines for winter: What current guidance says about vaccines for children and adults, including flu, COVID-19, and RSV.
-
Vaccine safety: How vaccines are tested and monitored, and how to assess claims about their risks and benefits.
-
Measles in Pennsylvania: What is happening across the state and how communities can help stop its spread.
-
Making sense of different advice: Why vaccine guidance may differ and what to discuss with your health care provider.
-
Vaccine policy and the law: How government decisions and court cases can shape vaccine access and requirements.
-
What comes next: The outlook for vaccine policy during the rest of the current administration and what it could mean for families.
Our panelists bring experience in vaccine research, patient care, public health, education, and law:
