Hinkson Holloway Mentorship Program
Supporting Black Men to Pursue and Excel in Medical Careers
The Hinkson Holloway Mentorship Program is a scholarship program for Black men in the Philadelphia region with an interest in a career in medicine.
This program is meant to push students through academics, service, and leadership to support these young men in navigating the challenging journey to Medicine. The facilitators of this program will provide mentorship and advising with academic issues, including tutoring, career development, and college/career preparation in a safe, positive, affirming space.

Program Details
In order to be eligible for the Hinkson Holloway Mentorship Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a high school student
- Planning to matriculate at a Philadelphia-area college or university
- Minimum high school GPA of 3.0
- Interest in pursuing a career in medicine
All interested candidates must submit the following materials:

Responses to the following essay questions:
- If you could choose any Black man from history to sit down and talk with, what would your conversation be?
- The realm of medicine and healthcare is profound, with many possibilities. What are your goals as you look to your future and career?
- What barriers as a Black man have tried to keep you from succeeding?

The program consists of monthly sessions.

Project Aims:
- To give young Black men the confidence to navigate professional and academics careers in healthcare.
- To train and mentor young Black men in topics including healthcare, politics, humanities, arts, and social sciences.
- To push young Black men into choosing to study topics that will lead them to healthcare professions.
- To inspire young Black men to be leaders in their communities and continue to push other Black men and women into healthcare and STEM.
